It was a hot day when Nysheth's clutch began to hatch. Azahrine was not looking forward to spending a long amount of time standing on the already-scalding sands, and hoped the hatching would be a quick one. He strode out of his room, trailing behind the older and taller male candidates as they went to the hatching sands.
He caught sight of his sister Elohu, and she smiled at him when she saw him. He smiled back nervously and turned his attention to the eggs. He bit his lip anxiously. Would he Impress a Bronze? Brown? Blue? Would he Impress at all?
The first egg hatched into a sturdy brown. He shook the sand from his hide and strode over to the male candidates. Azahrine watched the brown hopefully, but the brown moved unerringly towards another young man.
Several eggs hatched at once after that, and several greens and blues, among others, wandered the sands. A blue bonded a young man, and he called out his female bond's name.
A deep green dragon moved over to Elohu, but his sister was distracted by another egg and didn't notice her own bond at first. The green tugged on her robe to get her attention, and Elohu looked down and blushed. "Yalirienth! I'm sorry!"
Azahrine grinned and watched a little wistfully as his sister left with her new dragon. He was surprised by a large, leathery ball tumbling into him and pushing him to the sand. He looked up to see a green dragon, almost as large as a blue, looking down at him apologetically.
Ah'rine! I didn't hurt you, did I? Acasieth crooned in concern.
Ah'rine smiled and climbed to his feet. "I'm fine, Acasieth. You didn't hurt me." She crooned in relief. "Come on, why don't we go to the kitchens and get you some food?" He suggested, and Acasieth readily agreed.
"Come on, Acasieth. Time to get up." Ah'rine said, trying in vain to move his young weyrling green from her sleeping position.
I don't wanna...She moaned, slowly coming awake.
"Well, too bad. You have to." Ah'rine said with a roll of his eyes. "Besides, you want to be oiled and fed, don't you?"
Acasieth perked up at that, and looked up at her rider with whirling eyes.
Well, I suppose I could come with you, if you're that eager...
Ah'rine just smiled and rolled his eyes again.
