Akeros sat, lost in his own thoughts. It had been much too long since he had come here, and the clutch still hadn't hatched.
He thought about Opal Moon and the move to Lao Daemia, and shuddered. That was a terrible experiance, one he never wanted to go through again.
Sidero squawked from his right shoulder. She insisted on perching there, despite the fact that it was his blind side. He looked up, and noticed that everyone was heading into the black sands, where the eggs lay. The eggs must be hatching.
He made his way to the eggs, along with the rest of the candidates. There were far more candidates than there were eggs. He may not Impress after all.
The first egg hatched, and silence fell as the twin rare dragons were revealed. They were named
beryl-nebulas as the first of them Impressed.
The second surprised the crowds by talking aloud, and she and her gryphonic bond laughed.
Another egg hatched, revealing a
second pair of twin dragons. Their creamy-gold hides shined as they fluttered their wings, black with brilliant celestial patterns.
The first of them romped over to the male candidates, and this dragon also spoke aloud.
"
Don't worry about your eyes, A'ros. I'll be your eyes now. I'll be so good, you won't need either of them!" The andalusite-celestial hatchling spoke cheerfully to the stunned Akeros.
He gasped as he stared down at the tiny dragon, so eager to please him. "Krinoth..." He said, and smiled. "I don't think you'll have to do that. But c'mon, we'll get you fed."
The little hatchling crooned happily as he followed his chosen away, and the hatching continued.
