gave a small shudder as she stepped inside the Hatching Cavern, stopping to dry
her hair before following the rest of the candidates to the eggs. It was raining
hard outside, and it was none too warm. She watched as the first of the eggs
hatched to reveal a small brown dragonet, crooning as he chose his rider. There
was a lull in the hatching before the next two eggs cracked, revealing a light
blue male and a dark green female. The blue got up and trotted off, and his
sister squawked, chasing after him. The blue bonded followed quickly by the
green. The next two eggs hatched into a bronze and a brown, and the male
candidates watched exitedly as the bronze nudged the brown toward the
candidates. The brown retaliated with a hiss, and the bronze warbled, taken
aback, before trotting towards the candidates himself. The bronze bonded
first, then the brown. Another egg cracked and shattered, spilling a dainty
green dragoness onto the sands. She paused, then walked slowly towards the
female candidates, and bonded. The next two eggs yeilded a brown and a
larger blue, who bonded quickly as two green hatched. The two sisters looked at
each other, then raced to the candidates. The smaller got there first and
bonded, followed by her larger sister, who bonded to one of the males. Two
browns then climbled out of the remainder of their shells, the larger shaking a
peice of eggshell off his head. The smaller brown sat near his egg for a few
moments before following his brother to the candidates. The larger bonded first,
and the other followed suit. There was another long break before the next egg
hatched. The crowd collectively gasped as a small purple climbed out of her
shell. She made her way to the female candidates and butted her head against her
bond's side, who laughed and lead the rare dragonet away. The next two eggs
revealed normal greens. Though about the same size, one dragon was much darker
than her her sibling. The darker nudged her sibling and they both walked to the
candidates. They split off and bonded. Eyece shifted her feet. She was
getting impatient, and the heat from the snad was starting to burn her feet. She
watched as a bronze and a blue hatched and bonded, then came two more females, a
green and a second purple. Eyece watched hopefully as the purple approached the
candidates, but the female chose another girl. Her attention was drawn back
to the medium-sized green as the hatchling sat down in front of her.
I'm hungry,
Eyece. Eyece found herself
smiling as she looked down at the hatchling. "Well, I can imagine how hungry you
are, Ocerranth, so let's get off these sands." Ocerranth warbled and stood up,
trotting away with Eyece close behind
her.
