Personality: Generally a polite and easy-going person, he shows respect to everyone around him, but he tends to be somewhat distant towards people his own age and shows little interest in making friends. He is very fond of animals, particularly the runnerbeasts his family raises, but what he would really like to do is become a dragonrider, though he has little hope of it actually happening.
Past: Faedralen was born into a family of beastcrafters who raised runnerbeasts in a cold, snowy hold. His parents had an arranged marriage and never really got along that well with each other, though they had three children together in total; though he was never entirely sure, Faedralen suspects he might be related to some of the other hold children through his father.
He was always a rather sickly child, often ill, and he dislikes the cold climate of his home which he thinks probably contributed to this. As such, though they recieved infrequent visits from searchdragons over time, Faedralen always managed to be ill when they came by, so he was never searched. Even so, he has always harbored a secret hope of being a dragonrider. As he grew older and his health got slightly better, he began to help his parents with their runners, and discovered a lasting fondness for the beasts. For his eighteenth turnday, he recieved a colt to train on his own, who he named Shadowdancer.
He was in the process of training Shadowdancer when the Hold was once again visited by searchriders. He almost managed to miss them again, riding out in the fields, but he came back just as they were getting ready to leave. Even though he had always dreamed of it, he was shocked when he learned the searchriders actually did want him to stand for a clutch. He agreed only once he was allowed to bring Shadowdancer to the Weyr with him; after all the work he'd put into the runnerbeast, he wasn't going to leave him behind.

Personality: Ranorth is very protective of his rider, and even of Shadowdancer, if only because the runner is so important to F'dral. He is not particularly outgoing, though he is not shy; he is independant and prefers to do things on his own whenever possible. He is pretty smart and has an exceptionally good memory, and he is eager to prove himself in Threadfall. The brown can be rather vain about his appearance, and he is also surprisingly picky with his food, and dislikes the taste of wherries.
