Juseina is proud of her physical strength and hates to lose, especially to men.
She dislikes any insinuation that she is not just as good as a man and has
always had feminist tendencies. She is cold and withdrawn around most people and
isn't quite sure how to react to somebody being friendly. She doesn't mean to be
outright rude, though she's not too great at polite conversation. She has a
well-hidden soft-spot for animals. As far as dragons are concerned, she didn't
expect to be searched but is determined to prove herself as worthy of a dragon
as any man--even a male dragon.
Past: Juseina's parents were both Journeymen
Weavers assigned to the same Hold for turns on end. Though they were never
officially married, they are long-term partners and have had several children
together over the years. Juseina was the second child born, their first
daughter. Juseina was always a tomboy growing up, wanting to follow her big
brother and play rough and tumble with the Hold boys rather than be dressed up
or play with dolls. The first time someone told her she couldn't do something
because she was a girl, she punched the boy in the nose.
Her parents were
progressive sorts and didn't worry much about her behavior, though they tried to
curb her more violent tendencies without much success. Though she originally
apprenticed to the Weaver Craft like her parents, she didn't like it much and
transferred to become a beasthealer. As she grew older and became a senior
apprentice, she saved up her earnings to buy herself a handsome runnerbeast
stallion named Storm.
When
she was searched, she refused to leave the runnerbeast behind at the Crafthall.
Instead, he has been lodged in a stable near the Weyr, which she sneaks out to
periodically to see him.
After standing for the Senior Queen's clutch, she came away
with a blue hatchling named Thryth, and after going through weyrling training, she
decided to transfer to Sedona Weyr, where she has been ever since.
