Maradar
Name:
Maradar
Race: Cervidan
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Family: Father and
Mother; no siblings
Build: Average
Skin: Middle brown
Fur: Dark
brown
Hair: Dark red, messy, to ears
Eyes: Purplish
blue
Appearance: Maradar is something of a tomboy. She has an average
build and middling brown skin tone, with rather shaggy, dark brown fur on her
deer half. The fur on her underbelly doesn't change at all from the rest of her
fur. Her dark red hair is usually messy, but it is shorn close to her ears in a
boyish cut. She has small, purplish blue eyes and delicately pointed
ears.
Personality: Kind-hearted and gentle, Maradar is a peaceful creature
who shows great empathy for others. She is very sensitive and she hates to see
others in pain; she would make a good healer, though she tends to get very upset
if something doesn't go right, and she can be rather melodramatic at times. She
is also easily depressed, but she prefers to keep that side of her hidden, and
she usually bounces back quickly. She's really not one to mope about
uselessly.
Past: Maradar grew up in a secluded, snowy village of cervidan,
called Elduilu by its inhabitants. It's located deep in an evergreen forest and
often snows heavily. She had a relatively uneventful childhood; she lives with
her loving parents, and though she doesn't have any siblings, she gets along
well with the other children in the village. She was never much of a hunter, and
she preferred to stay at home and learn medicine from the village's healer. She
never showed much interest in the birds that many cervidan keep and train, so
she doesn't have any pets.
Bond: None yet
Pets: Female Gold-Black
Winged Wolf, Torvara BlackRain

Wolkeep
Name: Torvara BlackRain
Gender: Female
Breed: Reririan/Western Canese/Alskyrian/Pernese/Elurivan
Litter: 1
Father: Copper Turoke Tasana
Mother: Gold-Black Tivara BlackRain
Siblings: Tivoke, Tiranar, Toke, Travalis,
Vicor
Colour: Gold-Black
Eyes: Brown
Height: 3'
Ability: Western Canese Necromancy
Personality: One word that probably
describes Torvara best is cruel. She cares nothing for the feelings of others
and tends to be short-tempered and irritated at best, scathing and just plain
cruel at worst. It's amazing how such a bad-tempered and selfish wolf hangs
around Maradar, but Torvara considers the cervidan to be hers, and she
doesn't like to share with anyone. She has a cool, understated confidence and a
strange sort of charisma that can draw people to listen to her even when they
know how cold and unfeeling she is.

She didn't realize it until later, but the day Maradar
learned about the dragons was probably one of the most important days of her
life. It was certainly one of the most interesting. Humans, called searchriders,
found their village somehow, and with them, they brought dragons. Dragons of all
kinds of different sizes and colors and shapes. The first time she saw a dragon
up close, prey-instincts almost caused her to run as fast as she could in the
opposite direction. However, the young harts in the village were making a great
show of approaching the great beasts without fear, and Maradar was never one to
let males outdo her.
She may have been allowed to go with them that day, but
it was her choice not to. She never really warmed up to them, and she didn't
really get why anyone would want to bond themselves to one of them. Not everyone
in the village felt that way, though, and when the searchriders left, they took
one of the young cervidans with them.
Maradar didn't think much about Tasald
after that, not until she came back home with a dragon of her home. Maradar
figured she just wanted to show off Black-Lightning Ancheoth and maybe scare
some of the youngsters. Ancheoth must have pushed herself too hard sometime,
though, because shortly after their arrival in the village, the dragon ended up
with a strained wing and was taken to the healer--and her apprentice--to rest.
Maradar stepped carefully around the dragon for awhile, still nervous,
though the dragon didn't appear to take any particular interest in her.
Eventually, Ancheoth grew bored though, and she finally turned her gaze to the
young cervidan who working with herbs nearby. Why so jumpy?
The dragon asked, with a wide, pointy grin. I'm not gonna bite.
Maradar felt her face begin to turn red as she
lifted her head to look at the dragon. "Of course not. I wasn't scared in the
least." She said loftily, trying to deny her fear.
The dragon made a
strange, huffing growl, and she realized the dragon was chuckling.
Why don't you entertain me for a while,
if you're not too busy. It's dreadfully boring in here.
Truth to tell, Maradar had already finished what she
was supposed to be doing anyway, so they started to talk. And talk. And talk.
And somehow, Maradar wasn't nervous anymore. The two of them became good friends
over the next few days, though Maradar wasn't as fond of Ancheoth's brash and
rather bratty rider. And when Tasald and Ancheoth got ready to leave again,
returning to someplace called Darkling Dawn, Maradar asked quietly if she could
go with them. After all, it wasn't really too different from her home, being
surrounded by forests and inhabited by creatures no stranger than she, and there
were dragons there. She was surprised to find out how much she was fascinated by
dragons now.
She arrived at Darkling Dawn, and she settled down. She made
some new friends, both among humans, and dragons, and even a few fellow
cervidans, and she spent much of her time exploring the forests, which seemed to
go on forever--and, if rumor were true, they did. That was how she found the
wolfkeep. It was a fair distance away from the Dragonry, but not so far by
flight, because there was a fair bit of traffic between the dragons' home and
the wolves'. Maradar quickly ingratiated herself with the temporary human
Keeper, C'nwyn, who was also an animal healer. The first time she met the
wolves, she asked him, "What's the difference between bonding a winged wolf and
bonding a dragon, anyway?"
"Mmm, dragon bonds are typically a lot stronger."
C'nwyn explained with a grin. "Winged wolves don't really bond like dragons and
fire lizards do. But they're not simple pets either." Which didn't really
explain it all, to Maradar. But she found herself almost as interested in the
winged wolves as she was in the dragons, and she started to ask around. Cilan--a
centuar--and his bronze Thryor brought her to Ford Aigan Wolfkeep, which was far
away from Sgiath and Darkling Dawn, but there was a related litter of wolf pups
there. First a winged wolf, and maybe then a dragon...
