| You walk
into a tiny, sparkling clean weyr, which doesn't really make sense, you reflect.
Just how does one keep a cave clean, anyway? You are then drawn out of your
logical thoughts when a girl bounces into the main part of the weyr, from the
smaller sleeping quarters in the back. Her ankle-length, tri-colored curls
bounce around her head, instantly drawing your eyes, and you wonder idly what
keeps her hair from getting dirty, as it brushes on the ground every few
seconds. Oh, wait, this weyr is sparklingly clean, isn't it? Nevermind. Her
hair, as previously stated, is tri-colored; the left side is golden honey-blond,
the middle is glittering silver, and the right side is shiny, raven-black, as if
her hair couldn't decide which color was most aesthetically pleasing.
Similiarly, her eyes are two different shades; the left eye is a mysterious
violet color, and the right is clear blue. Her flawless skin is pale and, well,
flawless. "Hi!" She chirps at you as you stare. "I am Maria Suzanna Nicole
Sistine Ashley Mina Sierra Nevada Raven Smith." You almost feel sorry for
the girl, but you're too busy being scared and confused by her long string of
exotic names. She chatters on obliviously. "I'm standing for the clutch, you
know." She giggles. "It's funny. I was the Lord Holder's only daughter, but when
some bad men attacked and took over the hold, I had to pretend to be a drudge
for eight whole turns, with only an ugly, old watchwher for a
friend. After that, I never would have thought I'd have a chance to Impress a
dragon, but, here I am! I ran away from the hold, and spent two years living on
my own in a cave, where I Impressed fifteen fire lizards." She whistles, and two
gold fire lizards appear, growling ferally at each other with glowing, crimson
red eyes. "These are my two queens, Aria and Melody. They're the best of
friends, they get along splendidly." "I can see." You say, watching as one
fire lizard chomps on the other's tail, while the second queen scratches at the
first's wings with her claws. Maria Suzanna...uh...the girl, seemed oblivious.
"I also Impressed ten bronze fire lizards and three whites. No chromatic
colors for me!" You open your mouth to speak, but she interrupts you before you
can get a word out. "After two years, I got caught outside by accident during
threadfall, and was saved by dragonriders. They liked me so much, they brought
me back to the Weyr with them to stand for the clutch. Of course, the other
candidates make fun of me and say I'll never Impress a dragon, but I know
they're just jealous of me because I can hear dragons and they can't. And I just
know I'm going to Impress a beautiful gold dragon who everyone else will be
jealous of, and she'll be named Preciousth and we'll became famous and I'll be
Weyrwoman, of course, and we'll live happily ever after!" She says dreamily,
then she blinks, and adds as an afterthought, "Oh, although I wouldn't mind a
green, either." You get the feeling she doesn't really mean it at all. "So,
is there anything else you wanted to know about me?" She asks, smiling
flirtaciously. (Which doesn't really make a whole lot of sense either, since the
vast majority of readers will likely be female.) "Umm, actually, I was just
looking for the bathroom." You say at last. Her face falls. "Oh. It's to
your left, three doors down the hall." She grumbles, sounding as if she's been
through this before, and you leave, glad to be out of there at
last.

| | You brave the inner sanctum of the
gold candidate's weyr once again. Looking around, you notice that it is
signifigantly less tidy than before. Clothes and papers are (gasp!) strewn about
the floor, which is covered with dragon paw-shaped mud prints. You are
somewhat less than surprised, therefore, when the inhabitant of the weyr (who
you have mentally dubbed Mari-Su, for sanity's sake) strides majestically into
the room and is followed by a tiny, glittering golden dragoness. You are
considerably more surprised at the appearance of the dragonet itself. Downright
astonished, in fact. Where most (i.e., normal) dragons have a single head, this
dragoness has two! "Oh! Hello again!" Mari-Su trills happily upon seeing you
standing in the doorway. "Hey, you haven't met my dragon yet, have you? This is
Preciousth! I told you I'd impress a gold." She says proudly, seeming to ignore
the fact that her dragon has an extra head. "She's so great, she's better
than all the other dragons from her clutch." "Why's that?" You ask.
Mari-Su giggles. "Because she's got two heads, of course! Every other dragon
in the clutch only had one head. That makes her unique, and everyone knows that
the unique dragon always goes to the best candidate!" Yeah, I'm unique, you hear that? I'm
special. You may be special, but I'm
more special. Nuh-uh! I'm way better than you are.
Are not. Are too. Are not. Are too. Both heads huff at each other and crane their heads
away as if they have better things to do than argue childishly with one another.
You begin to wonder idly why suddenly you seem to be able to hear dragons, you
never could before. "Well, anyway, I've got to go feed Preciousth now. It's
so hard trying to feed two heads at once, you know?" Mari-Su
says, ushering you out. Preciousth follows behind her, still chattering with
herself. It's
about time! I'm hungry! Oh no! All that food will go straight to my thighs!
Do dragons have thighs?
You exit the weyr-heading in
a different direction than the goldrider and dragon-and breathe a sigh of
relief. |

| Name: Preciousth Color: Gold Gender: Female
Size: 24.6 meters (green) Impression Message: Like, OMG, Maria Suzanna Nicole Sistine Ashley Mina
Sierra Nevada Raven Smith. I'm like, so happy to meet you. I'm -- we're --
Preciousth. Can we just call you Maria? No! I wanna call her Nevada! I think
it's much prettier. No, it's not! Maria is! Nuh-uh! The
right head is always smarter, anyway, and...right. That's why it's called the
right head! Ugh! Personality: From the day she was born until the day
she dies, Preciousth will always be arguing with herself. While each head might
have a brain the size of a pea, they always have the opposite opinion. But, they
do agree on one thing: Maria Suzanna Nicole Sistine Ashley Mina Sierra Nevada
Raven Smith is pretty, sweet, and perfect, and that they deserve to be revered
and pampered. You'll never be free of her/their whining, either. One head
will eat ravenously while the other complains about its weight. While, the other
head will refuse to drink water because she thinks dragons should be able to get
wine. In flights, it's a toss-up. Either Preciousth will learn to think as a
collective body, and be a challenging chase, or will fight over which direction
to go and the males will catch her thirty seconds off the ground. From:
