Appearance: Taller than most girls, Nydessa is strong and well-built without being unattractively muscular or bulky. Her skin is a dark reddish color, deeply tanned, and her eyes are deep, dark brown. Her thin, wispy hair is dark brown with lighter highlights and she mostly keeps it in a messy, loose braid, though she can be persuaded to fix it up nicer for special events. When left loose, it reaches to the middle of her back. She is very pretty and popular among the male dragonriders.
Personality: Strong-willed and defiant, Nydessa is not afraid to stand up to anyone. She has a fiery temper and a strong sense of justice. She also has ambition and knows just what she wants to do with the rest of her life. That is, become a dragonrider, of course. And not a goldrider at that! No, she wants to be out there in the action, fighting thread on a flaming dragon. No egg-laying non-fighter for her!
Past: It's no real surprise that Nydessa has ambitions of being a dragonrider, when her father was a brownrider. She didn't know him very well, she only met him a handful of times in her life until he died unexpectedly in threadfall when she was eleven turns old. Her parents were never married and met each other by chance at a gather party. Nine months later, Nydessa came along. Though not completely ignoring his child, her father did not have much time to visit Nydessa and her mother and was always rather distant. Several years after his death, Nydessa finally left the small hold where she grew up and made her way to a Weyr. She took a job helping in the lower caverns until she was officially searched.
