Personality: Very kind and outgoing, Sheine is nice and polite to
everyone who meets her, but she is rather shy and has difficulty keeping friends
over the long-term. She suffers from low self-esteem and doesn't have a lot of
confidence, though her sheer stubbornness and refusal to give up alleviates this
to some degree. She likes to play games, especially card games, and has a
weakness for gambling.
Past: Sometimes it seems like Sheine was destined from
birth to be a dragonrider. There are rumors that her birth father was a
bronzerider, but as her mother died only a few weeks after her birth and no one
officially stepped forward as her father, she was fostered in the Crafthall
where she was born, to one of the woman who worked in the kitchens. She was a
kind and helpful girl growing up, helping out with chores without complaining,
but she didn't show any particular talent or interest in any crafts.
What
she wanted to do for as long as she could remember was ride a dragon. She
memorized all the teaching ballads about the dragons and took to drawing them in
her spare time, and every time a dragon winged past the Hall, she was one of the
first children out to watch it; the searchdragons took an interest in her from a
young age, though the first few times she was too young to stand. She was
sixteen when the searchdragons came again, and nobody was particularly surprised
to see her go with them. She'd probably fit in better at the Weyr than she ever
had there, anyhow.
