Name: Th'mer (Thenmer)
Race: Pernese
Human
Rank: Tanner
Apprentice/Weyrling
Gender: Male
Age: 24, 16 at
Impression
Family: Parents are Holders, six
siblings
Build: Tall, average build
Hair: Dark brown, messy, to nape of neck
Skin:
Tanned
Eyes: Green
Appearance: Thenmer's tall, and
only slightly gangly now that he's finished growing. His skin is usually tanned, and his dark
brown hair is nearly always a mess, though being cut short helps a bit to keep
it from being a nuisance. His large eyes are a very bright, pretty green,
capable of wooing more than one girl.
Personality:
Friendly and outgoing, he's very cheerful and always has
a smile on his face, no matter what he's doing. He likes to talk a
lot and make jokes; though he can get on people's nerves, he is also excellant at cheering
people up when they're down. He's not very mature for his age and
tries to shirk his work whenever possible; this is something that has not improved over
time.
Past: Born in a small hold with six older
siblings, Thenmer had a very boring childhood, being almost the only child near
his age. As a result, he tended to act out and generally make a terror of
himself. Eventually, his parents shipped him off to the first Crafthall that
would take him; thus, he became a tanner apprentice. He wasn't exactly thrilled
with the craft and didn't really make an effort to learn anything, even though
he was pretty popular with his fellow apprentices. Once the dragons came on
Search, he did everything he could to be noticed. It worked; whether or not
he'll actually manage to Impress is another matter...
Pets: Two green fire lizards, Ven and Galla; one blue fire lizard,
Seetch
From: Tiynarea Weyr, Tripaldi Weyr
Bond: Blue Ezeth
Though heartily bored with the Tannercraft, it wasn't
until a friend of his, Tiseren, got Searched that Thenmer decided he wanted to
be a candidate. Unfortunately, he had been away from the Hall when the
Searchriders came--dragged away to visit relatives, in fact, and he still cursed
his luck. As it turned out, he would get to be a candidate anyway.
A few days after a runner brought news from
Tiseren (T'ser now, with blue Siganth), the Searchriders came again; there was
already another clutch on the sands. Thenmer had no reservations about acting
like an idiot in order to grab the Searchriders' attention, but it worked,
though he admitted it may have had more to do with getting him to shut up rather
than him having significant talent with dragons. But whatever it took to be at
the Hatching...
He did meet up with T'ser again at
the Weyr, and met his hatchling, Siganth, but the new rider was far too busy
caring for the dragon to spare much time for friends. That was okay, however,
because Thenmer was outgoing enough to make new friends wherever he went. And it
was one of these that showed him the beach that was the fire lizards' favorite
spot for clutches.
He managed to get three of the
eggs before they were all snatched up, though being inexperienced with
dragonkin, he didn't pay any attention to which ones he grabbed and let the
larger ones go to other people.
By the time his
eggs were ready to hatch, he had read up on fire lizards and was ready and
waiting with plenty of fresh meat. The first egg cracked, revealing a tiny,
green nose, nostrils flaring at they inhaled for the first time. Thenmer watched
as the rest of the flitter crawled its way out of the shell, and immediately
shoved a scrap of meat at it, almost too large to fit into the hatchling's maw.
Somehow, though, the green fire lizard managed to swallow it and was soon
begging for more.
Thenmer tried to feed more meat
to the green, but the other two eggs were hatching now as well. The largest egg
(though it was only slightly bigger than the others) split open and a bright
blue fire lizard opened its mouth and screeched. At the same time, the third egg
developed a rather sizable hole, though the hatchling inside was not yet
visible.
Thenmer tried to throw pieces of meat to
the blue while still shoveling food for the green, so he was a little grateful
for the break. By the time the first-hatched green had settled down to sleep,
the third egg had hatched, and a dainty, dark green flitter was trying to steal
her brother's food. The blue hissed at her irritably and arched his wings
between her and his food, and Thenmer took the oppurtunity to grab the second
green's attention and shove some food into her mouth.
It was a trial to keep them all fed and satisfied, but Thenmer was
rather proud of his three fire lizards. In time, he decided that the
first-hatched green would be Ven, and the darker green would be Galla. The blue
hatchling liked the sound of Seetch, and Thenmer could hardly argue with that.
