Th'yor
Name:
Th'yor (Thayor )
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Family:
Father-S'vor, greenrider; Mother-Thete, goldrider; half-siblings, no full siblings
Build: Tall and rather thin
Skin: Lightly tanned
Hair: Reddish
brown, slightly curly, to nape of neck
Eyes: Greenish-blue
Personality: He has a keen sense of adveture and loves to go spelunking.
He loves living in Darkling Dawn and knows just about all the lesser-known back
tunnels, but he likes that they occasionally change without warning, which keeps
him on his toes. He has a loose tongue and tends to say what's on his mind, but
he's not overly rude and always willing to stick up for his friends.
Past:
The result of a short-lived fling between a queenrider and an older greenrider
(and we're pretty sure some sort of time anomaly was involved as well), Thayor
was fostored off quite young, but didn't seem to mind the lack of a relationship
with his parents. He does have several half-siblings from both sides, but he
doesn't tend to hang around them, either. He does like dragons, though, and
wants to be a dragonrider some day.
Pets: Green fire lizard, Gemini
From: Falas Weyr
Bond: Blue Reedoeth
Standing at: Seiryuu
Weyr

| Name: Reedoeth (Read-oath) Race: Pernese
Dragon Gender: Male Color: Blue Size: 26' (Blue-sized) Parents:
Silver Rainbow Green Oruntworepth x Turquoise Chaylanith Personality: Quite
unlike his bond, Reedoeth hates small, dark, tight spaces--he can't stand
walking through the tunnels of Darkling Dawn, and doesn't accompany Th'yor on
his spelunking expiditions even if he could fit. He is also rather fretful,
getting worried easily, and often thinks rather too much about the dangers while
his bond is
away.

He wasn't really
trying to get anywhere this time.
Thayor'd just gotten bored sitting around his room, having finished his chores
on time--for once--and his fostor mother told him in no uncertain terms that she
wanted him out of her hair for a little while.
He'd decided to take Gemini
and explore some of the smaller and practically deserted tunnels of Darkling
Dawn. The Dragonry had far more tunnels crisscrossing its interior than the
inhabitants could reasonably use, and many of the more inconveniant or
out-of-the-way passages were unkempt and unlit. Even so, they were more like
hallways, with uniformly-spaced walls and often lined with a mixture of either
unlit torches, Pernese glowblaskets, or high-tech light bulbs, than real cave
tunnels, but in the dark, he could almost forget where he was.
More than
once, Thayor had longed to find a real
cave to explore properly, but
unfortunately, the Dragonry was (quite oddly) only one mountain in an endless
plain of otherwise unspectacular forest. He made do with what he could. It was
while exploring one of these unexplored tunnels that he got lost. It was quite
disconcerting really; it had never happened before. He normally had an
impeccable sense of direction. Now, however, he was inescapably lost, and even
Gemini couldn't help him now.
The fire lizard in question was perched on his
shoulder, though she sporadically leapt off to chase after insects or explore or
somesuch. She didn't seem at all concerned with their predicament, which didn't
help Thayor's peace of mind.
"You're a bloody useless flitter, you know
that?" he told her. Gemini was completely unfazed; she just dug her claws into
the fabric of his shirt and set about cleaning a layer of dust from her hide.
He doubled back the way he'd come, only to end up in a dead end. Thayor
groaned in irritation. "What in Faranth's name is going on here? This sort of
random landscape shuffling is only supposed to happen outside the
Dragonry." He shook his head; the fabric of reality was so unreliable lately.
Thoroughly fed up, he didn't feel like shuffling about in the dark anymore.
This area of the tunnel was lit by glows, fortunately; he opened the basket and
the glows inside shed a dim light on the area around him. Up ahead, the path
split into two identical looking forks; he chose one at random and proceeded
through several more forks. At one point, he came across an underground stream
that he was sure was not supposed to be there. He went on, ran into
several dead ends, circled back, and the stream was gone, as were the paths he'd
come from before. "I don't even like
labyrinths," he sighed.
Some time later, he wasn't at all sure how it had
happened, as he had noticed nothing different around him, but Thayor realized
suddenly that he was no longer in the tunnels he'd started out in, nor had he
been for some time. Without realizing, he must have stumbled out of Darkling
Dawn's pocket dimension and onto a planet in true space, somehow. It all just
gave him a headache.
His first clue was when he came to a properly lit area
and saw the people. There was nothing odd about them, other than the fact that
they were almost all completely human, instead of a mixture with a heavy dose
of...other creatures. He also didn't recognize a single person, nor did he
recognize his surroundings.
He didn't bother trying to find the way he'd
come in; inter-dimensional pathways like that didn't usually tend to go both
ways. Instead he stopped someone passing by to ask them where he was now. The
man stared at him oddly. "Seiryuu Weyr, of course. Where else?" He strode off,
muttering under his breath about 'sharding weyrbrats making trouble'.
"Ah,
that's on Pern, right?" he spoke up, drawing several more odd looks. He decided
to shut up then. He strode around for a bit, taking in the sights. He wasn't
particularly concerned about getting home straight away; he could probably get a
sympathetic rider to give him a lift, and if worse came to worse, he could
always send Gemini back for help. There was a sudden dragon bugle, and Thayor
could see that it came from the direction of the Hatching Cavern. A grin crept
onto his face. "Well," he told no one in particular, "There's no reason I have
to get back home straight away, right?" Gemini seemed to ignore him completely,
and instead dove off his shoulder to go after a rat.
Thayor nodded. "Right,
well, I think I'll go see if they're still accepting candidates for the
clutch..."
