Cheney...Cheney...
Cheney rolled over, still fast
asleep.
Cheney...

"Gaahhhhh!!!
Synder, what are you doing!?!?!?" Cheney yelled, suddenly wide
awake.
...I thought you were standing for the
clutch, Cheney. His flit looked at him with curious eyes.
"Yeah, I
am...Why?" Cheney sighed, exasperated.
Well, I just thought you'd want to be there when the clutch
hatched.
"Of course I want to be there, Synder. That's the whole poi-"
His head immediatley shot up. "Synder, is the clutch hatching now?" The red and
black fire llizard nodded.
Cheney burst out of the room, running to the
hatching sands.
Fortunately, he managed to get there before the eggs
actually hatched. He watched the eggs, fervently hoping one of them was meant
for him. Suddenly, time seamed to stand still, and the first egg cracked.
A
sturdy, albeit small, brown toppled out of the eggs, searching for his lifemate.
Cheney watched as the little hatchling looked straight at him, but them passed,
choosing Nabil.
Two greens came next, followed by another brown, which bonded
a girl.
Then a large egg cracked, and a small bronze fell out. Cheney rushed
over, hardly daring to hope...He held his breath as the bronze looked at the
gathering male candidates, confused. Then Laval stooped down by the bronze, and
whispered, "Here I am, Sysith"
Disappointed, Cheney turned away, and met a
blue hatchling. Cheney? I'm Reeth. Do you want
me?
Ch'ney kneeled down, gathering the blue in his arms. "Of
course I do!"
He heard a crack, and looked over to see the gold hatchling at
Firesong's feet. "Looks like we missed the queen hatch, Reeth." He said to his
blue.
Reeth snorted. Who cares! I'm hungry, let's
eat!
Ch'ney left and followed Reeth out of the Hatching Sands.
