The clutch took a long time to hatch. ("Too long, in my
opinion!" Valkoinen stated.) The brothers were among the first to arrive as
candidates for the green's clutch, though not the very first, as a young man was
already standing for the green's clutch also. They were, however, the first
to arrive when their fire lizards, now fully grown, began to hum, announcing
that the clutch was hatching. They waited impatiently as the eggs rocked,
before the first egg finally cracked open. The egg somehow rolled sideways
before cracking open, and the hatchling rolled across the sands for a bit before
he came to a rest at Valkoinen's feet. He excitedly helped the young dragon up,
brushing away sand to reveal the dragon's bright blue hide.
Thanks,
V'nen. V'nen began to stutter when he realised the blue
hatchling had chosen him. "It-It was nothing." It was everything. The blue said, gazing into the boy's
brown eyes. My name is Sternth, and I'm hungry.
V'nen
grinned. "Come on, Sternth. We'll go get you something to eat then." He said,
shooting a quick encouraging glance to his older brother. Dacien watched two
more eggs hatch, revealing a cream and a purple, who both chose female bonds. He
frowned impatiently as the next egg revealed a second blue dragon. The dragon
hatched so silently that most people never even noticed the dark blue hiding in
the shadows. But one did. Dacien felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise
and turned to see the dark blue sitting behind him. He heard Cerelia sigh as she
saw the blue dragon. Possibly annoyed that she would have to share her owner
with another blue? Dacien blinked. Where had that thought come from? The blue
dragon hadn't chosen yet. Had he? Of course I have. I
choose...You! Now it was Dacien's turn to stutter. "What's
your..." The blue didn't let him finish. I'm Snith, if you
must know... The hatchling stated with an air of haughtiness. "Of
course I must know, I'm your bond. You wouldn't be speaking to me if I wasn't."
D'cien teased. Snith began to look confused. True... D'cien laughed. "Why don't I bring
you to the food?" He said in a false, seducing voice. That caught Snith's
attention. Ooh! He sat up excitedly before regaining his air of
haughtiness. Well, I suppose you will do... D'cien just grinned as they headed
to the waiting food. The green mother, Jybarith, shook her head as she watched
the antics of her son and his bond before turning to the rest of her hatching
eggs. | |
